Two weeks ago I asked the readers of The Daily Mind whether they would give a poor family money if they also had to give money to a drug dealer. You can see the great conversation (and debate) that ensued by clicking here.

This week I have another question that I would like to ask you all. I really enjoyed reading your responses last time and it gave me much joy to see how many intelligent, compassionate and thoughtful people were reading this blog. Here is this weeks Ethical Dilemma:

Your best friend has just told you that he is cheating on his fiancee. Both he and his fiancee have been friends of yours since high school. You are angry at your best friend for what he is doing and want to tell his fiancee but at the same time you promised him you wouldn’t. Would you tell her? Why? Why not?

I am really interested to see what you have to say with this one as relationship issues such as this can evoke some really strong emotions/memories in people. Please feel free to share any point of view that you have – I want to hear all the angles.

I resisted signing up to Twitter for a long time. After previously beating a pretty serious Facebook addiction I thought it would be a bad idea to get into another social media network. I thought I would waste hours of time just as I had on Facebook. But, I can happily report that after my first week on Twitter I think the service is going to be a useful addition to my online life. Here are some thoughts about my first week on Twitter.

By the way, you can follow me on Twitter here.

1. You can access some pretty cool people
The first thing I noticed about Twitter was that I was chatting to some pretty A-List bloggers within a matter of minutes. The level of informal access that you have to people on Twitter is quite amazing. As Twitter is made up of a lot of small comments the top internet celebs don’t seem to mind replying – Twitter saves them time.

2. You can get some good ideas
Having a Twitter window open during the day allowed me to throw around some different ideas for posts and articles. People on Twitter would tell me their thoughts and I could let the ideas marinate with them before going and writing the article. I got some good ideas after just seven days on the service.

3. It doesn’t waste much time
So far, I haven’t found any reason as to why Twitter would waste a lot of time. I hear about people who use the service way too much but, unlike Facebook, there are no pesky applications or games to distract you from the real purpose of being there.

4. Ah… I don’t really get it
I have to admit – I can’t help but think there is something I am not getting about Twitter. Is there something I am doing wrong? How can I get the most out of Twitter?

What do you think?
What are your thoughts about Twitter? Do you think it is a useful service that is going to be around for a long time or do you think it will fizzle out soon? Leave a comment and let me know.

I just wanted to write a quick post to acknowledge all the emails I have received over the last two weeks asking me to update more regularly.

I am deeply sorry for not writing more often and, to be honest, feel dreadful that the blog has slowed down to a measly two posts per week. Life (and work!) has got the better of me and I am struggling to keep my eyes open past 5pm at night.

But there is some good news. I am now on Twitter. This is yet another social media service that allows people to post updates every few seconds. If you would like to know what I am up to during the day or any thoughts I am having then it might be a good idea to follow me on Twitter. I have seen some really good conversations taking place on Twitter and thought it might be a good place to catch up with all my friends from The Daily Mind.

Lastly, I am going to try really hard to write more posts in 2009. I have a few really great ideas up my sleeve and hopefully you will see some really good stuff on here soon. Please make sure you are subscribed so you don’t miss anything.

What’s in the videos?
In these videos you will see Tibet’s most famous meditation masters, its most secret yogis and its most enlightened beings. Anyone interested in meditation or spirituality will find the footage in these clips and the associated commentary truly amazing.

These videos are gifts. There is nothing else like them in existence. Many of these masters have passed away and this is the only footage we have of them.

I hope you will take some of your Saturday to sit back with a cup of tea and revel in the magic that is Tibet’s Tantric Yogis!

What we are witnessing now is an historic moment. Barack Obama has won the election and is now the President of the United States of America. Finally.

This is a truly amazing moment because it marks the end of the disastrous Bush Administration and ushers in an era where the American people have chosen a man based on his merits and policies and not overlooked him because of the color of his skin or the sound of his name.

Today is a day we will never forget.

I congratulate America on electing a man who promises to change things. We need it. The Bush Administration has divided the world and it is my hope that Obama will patch things up, slowly. It will be a big job but the process has already begun – Obama has brought much of America together.

I wish him the best of luck for the next four years.

Bush – YOU’RE FIRED.

I used a random number generator to find a number between 1 and 1000. The random number calculated was 44 and the 44th comment belonged to our winner! Here is a screen shot of the draw.

I just want to draw your attention to the new “nested comments” software that I have installed on The Daily Mind. I am really excited about it!

What does it do?
What this does is allows comments to be more conversational by nesting replies to comments. So, if you ask me a question in the comments I can click “reply to this comment” and my answer will appear immediately under your question instead of half way down the page. If I don’t want to reply to any particular comment but still want to leave one I just fill out the form in the normal way and my comment will appear separately.

Why did I install it?
The reason I installed this is because we have such a great community of people on The Daily Mind and some of the comments you leave are pure gold. This way we will be able to have better discussions by replying to individual comments – you won’t have to scroll through all the comments to see if anyone has replied.

We have Avatars!
I can now see your face on The Daily Mind! This software has avatars like in a forum which means we will be able to see what you look like and get to know you better. I am really excited about this.

All you need to do to get a photo on your comments is go to www.gravatar.com and sign up for an account. Make sure you use the same email you use for your comments – that’s how they link your photo and comment together! It is well worth doing this because more and more blogs are using avatars.

Other features of the new comments software
There are some neat features that you can now take advantage of to have a better discussion experience at The Daily Mind:

Comment RSS
You can now subscribe to an individual discussion on The Daily Mind using RSS. This means that all replies to your comment will appear in your RSS reader so you don’t need to keep checking back.

Email notifications
In the same vein as the RSS, you can opt to have any replies come to your inbox so you don’t miss out on the action. This is great if you don’t have time to sit around and wait for me to answer.

There are still a few bugs to fix. The font size is way to small and your names aren’t big enough. Other than that I think we are going to have some fun with this thing! Leave a comment and test it out! I’m dying to try it!
