For some people, jewelry and other accessories are merely for aesthetic purposes; but we at The Daily Mind believe that there are certain pieces of jewelry that are crafted with the intent of making life better. With the right materials and purpose, jewelry can be more than a piece of “bling” to show off.
In line with this, we have partnered up with the founders of Mala and Mantra (M+M), a line of fair, sustainable and fashionable jewelry and accessories that guide wearers on their journey toward meditation, mindfulness, wellness and self-discovery.
M+M’s Debut Collection was launched in February 2014 and is created by socially conscious entrepreneur Judith P. Compton. The Debut Collection consists of 36 handmade and hand-knotted pieces that use gemstones like Labradorite, Crystal Quartz, Tiger’s Eye, Amazonite, Black Agate and more. The collection includes mala necklaces and bracelets for both men and women.
Mala and Mantra’s products are inspired by Buddhist mala beads, a rosary of 108 beads used for meditation and focusing the mind. Each creation is a piece of fashionable jewelry with spiritual affirmations that help wearers discover their inner soul.
More than that, Mala and Mantra aims to help those who are in need and works with a women’s co-op in the Philippines to help create their handcrafted, Fair Trade products. This social enterprise provides sustainable income, pays fair wages and provides a safe work environment for the female artisans in the cooperative. This is the most significant part of the entrepreneurial equation for Judith and Mala and Mantra: to consciously create fair fashion inspired by the spirit and fit for the soul.
