I know this is an old post, but here are my two cents that worked wonders for me. eat atleast 2-3 hrs before bedtime, and don't eat anything just before you go to bed. Sleep at a reasonable hour, and the sametime every single night.
I used to be a nocturnal creature, watching movies or surfing the net, till about 01 or 02AM. So, sleeping early, viz., 0930 or 1000PM was a challenge the first few days. But if you stick to your guns, the body/mind gets into the routing pretty quickly. Once into the routine, i could get up at 0430 or 0500AM, without any problems, rather, I just could not get myself to sleep beyond 0500AM. This made my day very productive, 'cause I used the extra hours of my life to reflect on myself, plan my day and get some morning chores done, before Mrs. KK gets up. This is way better than mindlessly wandering the Internet or watching movies.

Hello!

I think your tips were really good, but as your friend, there are so many ways to wake yourself up, the only problem with me is, nothing can get me out of bed. I just tell myself "five more minutes" and when next I see the clock, it has been one hour since I last saw it, how can I counter such a situation? And I have to study alot, I need time out of bed, not in bed.

Regards,
Samira

I have for the past few days waking up and spending just ten or so minutes with the five tibetan rites, and I must say they have been working for me! I recommend them!

hello, I quite enjoy your blog, and this is the first post that I discovered on The Daily Mind.

I always keep my window open, it does, however get shut by my pa when he goes to bed, because he doesn't want the house to get too cold. Even if it IS California...

I find that in the morning I am too muddled to think of my situation. to be mindful. the breaths help. but i can't really bring myself to that state of mindfulness. this comes easiest in the evening. i'm a night owl, and therefor feel chipper and I can focus, meditate, and do things like walk and talk in mindfulness.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response and your blog!
I just started one of my own =) http://snowylullabies.wordpress.com/

Blessings,
Andrew.

I am notorious for sleeping in. I have 2 alarms clocks, and have hooked up my computer to my TV that has an intense sound system; I am new to this apartment complex & don't really know my neighbors, hope they don't mind.

Many years ago, I actually caused my father's ceremony to be delayed 1/2 an hour when he re-married; my brother's friend from the army came to wake me up...Don't go into the army, they are anxious to pull the blanket off of you and shout commands VERY LOUDLY while you wake up (just like in the movies). The outcome is confusion and coldness when you finally come too. I repeat, don't go into the army. I digress.

I have been nocturnal for the last 2 or 3 weeks (literally, my bedtime is 6AM, right before the sun rises). I beat myself up for <i>starting off the new year</i> in such a way, but I will certainly take these tips into consideration. I really appreciate your blog and your writings.

Best of luck to you in your daily endeavors.

<i>My internet timed out the first time I submitted this comment, I apologize if I "double posted"</i>
