And We Think Things Are Tough…

the Dalai Lama

When times are tough you can always remember the fact that there are people out there who have it a lot worse. You can also remember that there are people out there who dedicate their lives to making the world a better place.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is one of them.

The photo above was taken shortly after His Holiness was forcibly evicted from his own country in 1960. In the photo he is blessing and clothing small orphans. Even after losing something as big as a country and witnessing the murder of millions of his countrymen the Dalai Lama is still thinking about others. He has not let it get him down. I saw this photo for the first time today and it brought tears to my eyes. It is now my desktop background and I look at it to remind me that there is hope even in the toughest of times.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising and as day broke we read new stories of the Chinese Communist Government evicting all journalists from Tibet. Surely this cannot mean good things for the native Tibetans?

I ask all readers of The Daily Mind to cast a few thoughts to Tibet today…

  1. The Dalai Lama is one of my heroes and despite all the pressures that his “job” entails, he always manages to have a smile and such a cute laugh. You are right, we can learn from him.
